The logo was designed as an entry into a logo competition for the Gros Islet Youth Development Council (GYDC). The artwork was put together with the mission of the GYDC in mind “To enhance, encourage, and increase participation of youth in the Community of Gros Islet by providing quality resources, training and support; to effect positive youth development and representation at the local, national and regional level.”

The colours of the logo are Blue, Yellow, Black & White. These colours were selected to portray a representation of the St. Lucian flag. Elements of the flag is even visible within the “G” and the “D” of the logo. The logo also adapts the silhouettes of youth in action, while the two larger silhouettes were intentionally shaped to portray the “Y” and the “C” of the GYDC. The logo depicts youth engaging in sport, dance, and literary activities.
